Fig 10. Dermis of thick skin. This photomicrograph shows
the connective tissue of the skin, referred to as dermis,
stained to show the nature and distribution of the elastic
fibers (EF), which appear purple. The collagen fibers (CF)
have been stained by eosin, and the two fiber types are easily
differentiated. The elastic fibers of the dermis have a 3D
interlacing configuration, thus the variety of forms.
